I Built the PM Interview Prep Kit I Wish I Had
An industry-neutral PM interview prep kit, now live in the Hyogomo store. It has PDF guides covering each interview round and an Excel workbook where you build your story bank, practise answers and track applications. It’s for people moving into product and for PMs switching industries.

I Built the PM Interview Prep Kit I Wish I Had
Now live in the Hyogomo store: PDF guides plus an Excel workbook for anyone preparing for a product management interview.
I've spent more than ten years in and around product: web development, growth, and now product management for EV and mobility software. In that time I've been on both sides of the interview table. The pattern is always the same. Smart people with real experience walk in and under-sell themselves, because nobody taught them how product interviews actually work.
So I built the kit I wish I'd had, and it is now live in the store.
Why I built it
Most PM interview material has the same three problems:
- It's built around big tech. Every example is a social app or a search engine. If you work in logistics, healthcare, fintech, mobility or manufacturing, you spend half your prep translating.
- It's all theory. Frameworks are explained once and never practised. In the room, you freeze.
- It's scattered. A blog here, a video there, a spreadsheet from a friend. There is no single system to follow.
I wanted one kit that is industry-neutral, so the same method works whether you're interviewing at a startup, an enterprise, or a company in a sector you've never worked in. And I wanted it to be something you work through, not something you skim.
What's inside
The kit comes in two parts that are meant to be used together.
1. The PDF guides. These explain the core interview rounds: product sense, execution and metrics, strategy, behavioural stories, and how to talk about your own experience. They are written to be read once and then used as reference the night before an interview.
2. The Excel workbook. This is where the preparation happens. It gives you a place to build your story bank, track the companies you're applying to, log practice answers, and see where you're weak before an interviewer does.
The reason for the workbook is simple. Reading doesn't change how you perform. Repeating, tracking and refining does.
How I'd use it
If you have two weeks:
- Read the guides in order, one round per day.
- Fill in your story bank in the workbook: five or six real projects you can talk about from different angles.
- Practise out loud. Time yourself. Log what felt shaky.
- In the last two days, revisit only the weak spots.
If you have two days, skip straight to the story bank and the metrics guide. Those two give you the biggest return on the least time.
Who it's for
- Engineers, analysts, designers and operations people moving into product
- Associate and mid-level PMs aiming for the next step
- Experienced PMs switching industries who want a clean, structured refresher
It is not a guarantee of an offer. Nothing is. It is a structured way to walk in prepared, calm, and able to explain your thinking.
Where to get it
The kit is available now in the Hyogomo store. If you have questions, or you want to tell me which section helped or which one you'd like expanded, use the connect page. I read every message, and the next version will be shaped by what you tell me.
Good luck with your interviews.
